Prépubliée dans le journal Spirou en 1961. Format : 43,3 x 32,2 cm. Encadrée. Probablement la planche la plus émouvante et la plus touchante de toute la série. Le Grand Schtroumpf est ici délivré par Johan et retrouve ses petits Schtroumpfs après une longue séparation. Ces retrouvailles sont l'occasion d'une succession de cases magnifiques où l'émotion est à son comble, comme jamais dans la série. Les Schtroumpfs sont enfin délivrés du joug de Monulf mais font très vite face à un nouveau danger, le dragon Fafnir. La dernière case sera choisie par Peyo pour la réalisation du dessin des pages de garde de cet album (lot 211 de notre vente). Cet album marque la troisième apparition des Schtroumpfs dans l'univers médiéval de Johan et Pirlouit, ici dans leur propre pays imaginaire qu'est le Pays Maudit. This is probably the most moving and touching strip of the entire series. Papa Smurf is saved by Johan and is reunited with the baby Smurfs after a long separation. This reunion is shown in a succession of magnificent panels full of emotion, as never before seen in the series. The Smurfs are finally saved from the yoke of Monulf, but must soon face another very real danger in the shape of Fafnir the dragon. The final panel would be selected by Peyo for the design of the flyleaf of this album (lot number 11 in the sale). This album marks the third appearance of the Smurfs in the medieval universe of Johan and Peewit, here in their own imaginary world of the Cursed Country.
