Ces villages se trouvent dans une zone strategique entre Bastogne, Libramont, SaintHubert et Houffalize, ou les forces allemandes ont tente de percer les lignes alliees pour atteindre la Meuse et Anvers. Bien que ces localites soient de petite taille, leur position sur les routes secondaires et les voies de communication en a fait des points de passage ou de resistance importants pendant l offensive allemande. SainteOde a ete le site d un poste medical avance de la 326th Airborne Medical Company, qui a ete attaque par les forces allemandes le 19 decembre 1944. Le poste a ete pris d assaut, entrainant la capture de nombreux membres du personnel medical. SainteOde was the site of an advanced medical post of the 326th Airborne Medical Company, which was attacked by German forces on December 19, 1944. The post was overrun, resulting in the capture of many medical personnel.
