Rare Girardoni Pneumatic, Air Rifle, Austria, Late 18th Century. An exceptional example of early pneumatic weaponry, this Girardoni air rifle represents a significant innovation in 18th-century arms. Manufactured in Austria, this piece features a beautifully figured walnut stock with elegant brass mounts and engraved floral design. The buttstock contains a built-in air reservoir. The octagonal barrel bears the maker's signature “Girardoni” in finely engraved script. The rifle is equipped with an adjustable rear aperture sight, designed for precise shooting, and retains original components, including the distinctive multi-finger brass trigger guard and ornate buttplate. The overall condition is good with expected wear consistent with age and use. A highly collectible and historically significant air gun, rarely seen on the market in such complete form.
