In einer Nische sitzend, eine große Darstellung des Bodhisattva Guanyin. In der erhobenen rechten Hand eine Perle und vor den Füßen eine Vase. Zu ihrer Linken der Akolyt Caishan und zu einer Seite des Berges zwei weitere Figuren. Auf der Rückseite eine Inschrift in Relief: Putuoshan, Nanwu daci dabei jiuku jiunan Guanshiyin pusa (Verehrung sei dir, Bodhisattva Guanyin der großen Barmherzigkeit und des großen Mitgefühls und Erretterin von Bitterkeit und Not). Braunlackiertes Holzsockel geschnitzt mit Felsen und Blumen. Die Insel Putuo, zusammen mit Wutai, Jiuhua and Emei, gilt als eine der vier heiligen Berge im chinesischen Buddhismus. Im Südosten von Shanghai in der Zhoushan-Präfektur der Provinz Zhejiang, war sie bereits in der Song-Dynastie als Pilgerort bekannt und einst von Gläubigen in zahlreichen Tempeln und Nonnenklostern bewohnt, die Bodhisattva Avalokiteshvara (Guanyin) verehrten.
