Shri Devi. Bronze. Süd-Indien. 15./16. Jh. In leichter tribhanga-Haltung auf einem Lotos stehend, über einem kastenförmigen Sockel mit vier Ringen für zwei Transportstangen. Die rechte Hand in lolahasta, die linke hielt usprünglich einen Lotos (padma). Das Brustband weist sie als Shri Devi aus. Sie ist reich geschmückt mit Ohrgehängen, Brustschmuck, Reifen und Schmuckgürtel über dem eng anliegenden dhoti. In Süd-Indien flankieren Bhu Devi und Shri Devi den Gott Vishnu. Shri Devi ist an ihrem Brustband (kucha bandha) und der geschlossenen Lotosblüte zu erkennen. H 49,5 cm Provenienz Privatsammlung, Niederlande, erworben bei Christie´s Amsterdam, 18.11.1994, Lot 1 A South Indian bronze figure of Shri Devi. 15th/16th century Standing in tribhanga pose on a lotus above a square base with four rings for the transport poles, the right hand in lolahasta, the left hand formerly held a lotus, the body adorned with ear ornaments, necklaces, bracelets and a belt with garlands securing the dhoti. In South Indian representations Shri Devi is usually shown as part of a trinity with Vishnu at the center and Bhu Devi on the other side. Shri Devi can be identified by her breast band.
