Baillon à Paris, with movement number 1561, the enamel dial by the Parisian enameler, Antoine Nicolas Martinière, signed and dated May 1741. Elephant, base and remaining parts of the case, associated in the 19th and 20th century. Chiseled bronze, gilt and patinated. The base with lacquer panels on 4 sides. Movement, striking the hour and 1/2-hour on bell. White enamel dial. The back signed by the Parisian enameler Antoine Nicoals Martinière (1706-1784), and dated May 1741. 29 x 14 x 53 cm. The pendulum clock on offer features a signed and numbered movement by the famous watchmaker, Jean-Baptiste Baillon. The movement was probably made at the same time as the original dial, which is signed on the back by the Parisian enameler, Antoine Nicolas Martinière (1706-1784), and dated May 1741. The early classicist base with the four lacquer panels is of exceptional quality, but - just like the very naturalistically modelled elephant - it is not originally part of the design. Both may have been created in the late 19th century. The clock, as it presents itself now, was probably associated in the 20th century from the existing original parts and the later parts. Baillon à Paris und mit Werknummer 1561 versehen, das Emailzifferblatt vom Pariser Emailleur Antoine Nicolas Martinière signiert und datiert May 1741. Elefant, Sockel und Teile des übrigen Gehäuses im 19. und 20. Jh. arrangiert. Bronze ziseliert, vergoldet und patiniert. Der bastionsartig geformte, rechteckige Sockel im Stile des Frühklassizismus, auf profilierten Scheibenfüssen. Vierseitig eingelassen mit chinoisen Lackpaneelen, flankiert von fein ziselierten Rosetten. Aufgesetzte Figur eines schreitenden Elefanten auf naturalistisch gestaltetem Grund. Über einer gegurteten Packschabracke das zylindrische Werkgehäuse, umrahmt von feinen Blütenzweigen mit polychromen Porzellanblumen. Darüber ein Chinese auf erhöhtem Kissen sitzend, in seiner linken Hand einen Bambusstab haltend. Werk mit Stunden- und Halbstundenschlag auf Glocke. Das weisse Emailzifferblatt mit römischen Stunden- und arabischen Minutenzahlen. Rückseitig ist das Zifferblatt vom Pariser Emailleur Antoine Nicoals Martinière (1706-1784) signiert und datiert May 1741. 29 x 14 x 53 cm. Provenienz: - Sammlung Wolfson. - Partridge Fine Arts Ltd. Die hier angebotene, sehr dekorative, aus der Sammlung Wolfson stammende Pendule, weist ein signiertes und nummeriertes Werk des berühmten Uhrmachers Jean-Baptiste Baillon auf. Dieses Werk dürfte zeitgleich wie das originale Zifferblatt entstanden sein, welches rückseitig vom Pariser Emailleur Antoine Nicolas Martinière (1706-1784) signiert und mit May 1741 datiert ist. Der frühklassizistische Sockel mit den vier Lackpaneelen ist von aussergewöhnlicher Qualität, gehört aber, wie auch der sehr naturalistisch modellierte Elefant nicht ursprünglich zum Werk. Beide dürften im späten 19. Jahrhundert entstanden sein. Die Uhr, so wie sie sich jetzt präsentiert, dürfte wohl im 20. Jh. aus dem vorhandenen Originalteilen und den späteren Teilen arrangiert worden sein.
