Collection privée J. Grall, France, acquis en France en Octobre 2012
A Canosan plastic oenochoe in the shape of a duck. The hollow body of the
bird rests on a tall, bell-shaped flaring base with a rim. The neck of the vase,
with a delicate trefoil lip and a high arching handle is attached to the back of
the duck. Buff fine clay of the vessel is painted with a thin coat of white gesso.
Made for funerary purposes, given the impracticality of pouring liquids out of
the vase. 4th century BCE.
