An extraordinary and rare silver mounted set of French flintlock dueling pistols crafted by the prestigious Parisian gunsmith Jean-Baptiste Croizier, dating to the Directory - Napoleonic era, end of 18 century. Housed in their wood case, this ensemble includes two pistols and a full complement of original accessories. Each pistol features a beautifully blued and gilt-decorated octagon-to-round barrel, signed Croizier a Paris, richly adorned with floral and scroll motifs. The lockplates, hammers and mounts are engraved and decorated with gold inlays, also bearing the Croizier inscription. Walnut stocks, finished with engraved steel mounts, including ornate trigger guards and handle pommel. The case is lined in red velvet and includes all essential tools — all precisely fitted and preserved in excellent condition. This deluxe cased set exemplifies the elegance, craftsmanship, and martial prestige of the Napoleonic First Empire and would be a centerpiece in any fine collection of antique arms.
