Wilhelm Thöny (Graz 1888-1949 New York) "Arbeiterkammer" (Arbeitslose/Arbeitslose vor der Fabrik), 1925, small version of the painting Arbeitslose/Arbeitslose vor der Fabrik - see: Im Sog der Moderne, Neue Galerie Graz, Kerber Verlag, 2013, full-page colour ill. plate 64, cat. rais. no. 158, signed Thöny, titled Arbeiterkammer on the stretcher as well as with dedication in the artist's handwriting: Herrn Helmer zu Weihnacht 1925 herzlichst W. Thöny, oil on canvas, 57.5 x 51 cm, framed Wilhelm Thöny used the painting “Vorstadt mit sitzender Frau” from 1914 by Albert Weisgerber – a painter of the Neue Münchner Secession whom he held in high esteem – as a model for the composition.
