Architecte de formation, son art se concentre sur l'architecture traditionnelle et historique, notamment les églises, les monastères, les paysages urbains et les paysages. Né à Kamianets-Podilskyi et installé par la suite à Kiev, il était artiste et architecte honoré d'Ukraine, membre de l'Union nationale des architectes d'Ukraine (depuis 1955) et de l'Union nationale des artistes d'Ukraine (depuis 1962). À la fin des années 1950, Khymych est reconnu par les historiens de l'art comme l'un des meilleurs aquarellistes de l'URSS. En 1990, il a reçu le titre d'artiste honoré de la RSS d'Ukraine et a été membre honoraire de l'Académie d'architecture d'Ukraine. Trained as an architect, his art focused on traditional and historic architecture, including churches, monasteries, cityscapes, and landscapes. Born in Kamianets-Podilskyi and later based in Kyiv, he was an Honored Artist and Architect of Ukraine, a member of the National Union of Architects of Ukraine (since 1955), and the National Union of Artists of Ukraine (since 1962). In the late 1950s, Khymych gained recognition among art historians as one of the USSR's finest watercolorists. In 1990, he was awarded the title of Honored Artist of the Ukrainian SSR and was an honorary member of the Academy of Architecture of Ukraine.
