(2) In the late 1770s, Albert Christoph Dies produced a series of drawings after the works of Jacob Philipp Hackert (1737-1807). These works, depicting various Italian landscapes, capture the essence of Italy's picturesque scenery from the hills of Tuscany hills to the dramatic Amalfi coast. These Italian views by Dies are closely connected to the Grand Tour as they served as a more transportable souvenir for many tourists looking to bring home images of their time spent abroad.
