104. A BLACK-LACQUERED IRON MENPŌ (MASK)
Edo period (1615-1868), 18th/19th century
The ressei menpō forged in two sections, with standing scalloped yadome flanges and two metal rings on the cheeks, applied with a bushy animal-hair moustache, the mask covered in rich black lacquer, the interior lacquered red, with a two-lame yodarekake laced in orange, purple, and white and secured by a section of printed leather
