11. 11W Louis XV period green tinted horn veneered cartel and console table by Julien le Roy
A Louis XV ormolu-mounted green-stained horn cartel clock and its base, by Julien le Roy, mid-18th century
Of shaped form, the upper section surmounted with a chinoiserie figure with umbrella, flanked by scrolling acanthus and foliate mounts, the enamelled dial signed 'JULIEN LE ROY A PARIS' above a dragon motif, the conforming case with further scrolling foliate borders and mounts, the reverse of the case stamped thrice: 'B.LIEUTAUD', some of the mounts marked with the 'C' couronné mark, largely regilt, 77 cm total high, 32cm wide, 17cm deep (30in total high, 12 1/2in wide, 6 1/2in deep)
The 'C' couronné poinçon was a tax mark employed on any alloy containing copper between March 1745 and February 1749.
