The son of Nicholaos Tritakis who fought in the 1827 siege of the Athens Acropolis under the great philhellene Charles Fabvier, Dionyssios Tritakis (1827-1902) studied at the Military Academy before joining the Cavalry units of the Greek Army. Alongside Dimitrios Grivas, Petros Mavromichalis, and Dimitrios Botsaris, he played a leading part in the anti-royal revolt by the Nauplion garrison in February 1862, which eventually led to the abdication of King Otto in October of the same year.
