Composed on the whole of Maori greenstone cabochons known as "Pounamu" alternated with rock crystal discs, centred with a trefoil motif enhanced with a white pearl, holding two stylised acorns, on a forçat link chain, French import hallmarks for 18K gold (750 ‰), length of necklace 54.00 cm, length of pendant 6.50 cm, gross weight 26.55 g, accompanied by a Frank Hayms Ld. shaped case.
Frank Hyams, a New Zealand-born jeweller, goldsmith and watchmaker, established prestigious shops in both London and Dunedin in the early XXᵉ century. Renowned for his fine craftsmanship, he worked in particular with greenstone - a characteristic New Zealand green stone, a variety of nephrite jade, closely linked to Maori culture. Hyams created not only refined jewellery, but also tableware, greenstone candelabras, writing instruments and other decorative pieces. His clientele included such illustrious figures as Leopold de Rothschild.
