121. 121▲ A mid-18th century chinoiserie-decorated musical table clock

The case with caddy top raised on a pierced silk-backed sound fret framed by four turned finials, the sides with shaped sound frets on a moulded base and bun feet, decorated allover with chinoiserie scenes against a black ground. The arched brass dial with twin subsidiaries for Chime/Not Chime and tune selection (offering a Jigg, a March, a Gavot or a Minuet) flanking the recessed signature plaque, over a Roman and Arabic chapter ring, matted centre and date aperture. The triple fusee movement with verge escapement playing one of four tunes on a run of graduated bells. 60cms high. 35cm wide.
