125. 125W A FINE ARMOUR WITH A NUINOBE DŌ (CUIRASS) Edo period (1615-1868), 18th/19th century Laced in dark blue comprising a 16-plate russet-iron sujibachi finished with a shakudō tehen kanamono, the bowl mounted with a five-lame Hineno jikoro finished with large fukigaeshi applied with doeskin decorated with scrolling vines and shakudō family crests of crossed hawk feathers, the pierced shakudō kuwagata dai supporting gilt kuwagata and an oval maedate pierced with a cardioid shape; the russet-iron menpō forged with deep wrinkles and worked on the surface with deep yasurime, lacquered with a moustache and applied with a secondary animal-hair moustache, the teeth silvered and the lips lacquered red; the nuinobe dō with each horizontal plate applied with black textured leather, the muna ita finished with doeskin matching the fukigaeshi and applied with a shakudō hawk-feather crest and fukurin along the top edge, fitted with seven sections of five-lame kusazuri, the lowest lame applied with black, textured leather; solid-plate sode incorporated into the kote of chain mail and tsubo forearm plates; Iyo haidate; tsubo suneate; with an armour stand and two leather covered storage boxes
