ROCHER EN JADE CÉLADON PÂLE ET ROUILLE SCULPTÉ XVIIIe siècle A PALE CELADON AND RUSSET JADE BOULDER 18th century Intricately and deeply carved on both sides following the natural shape and inclusions of the stone, one side with a mountainous landscape featuring groups of scholars and their attendants on narrow and steep paths making their way to pavilions set high up on lofty peaks, with gnarled pine treed providing shade, the reverse with two deer, one recumbent, the other standing on a rocky ledge beneath a fruiting peach tree issuing from a large overhanging rock, wisps of clouds above and whirls of water beneath, the stone a pale celadon colour with natural russet inclusions, wood stand. 17cm (6 3/4in) wide x 14cm (5 1/2) high.
