132. A RUSSET-IRON SUJI KABUTO (HELMET WITH STANDING RIDGES)
Edo period (1615-1868), 18th century
The 22-plate suji kabuto mounted in classical style with two sets of three shinodare decorative strips emanating from the tehen kanamono running down the front and rear plates of the helmet bowl, the sides overlaid with two wide brass plates engraved with dragon and swirling clouds and finished at the base with igaki, the bowl fitted with a five-lame shikoro ending fukigaeshi applied gilt-metal crests on printed leather, trimmed in gilt-metal fukurin, the front with a circular maedate of silvered brass
