135. MYŌCHIN LINEAGE (18TH CENTURY) A Russet-Iron 62-Pate Suji Bachi (Helmet with Standing Ridges) Edo period (1615-1868), 18th century The russet-iron bowl contstructed of 62 vertical plates riveted together and surmounted with an elaborate five-stage gilt and shakudō tehen kanamono, the lowest stage pieced with scrolling vines, the mabizashi covered in printed leather and trimmed with a shakudō fukurin, signed on the interior of the bowl Myōchin, mounted with a three-lame solid-plate shikoro covered with textured leather, the lacquer kukigaeshi applied with circular gilt-metal plum-blossom crests, the helmet adorned with a large gilt and silver-brass maedate of crashing waves
