Provenance
Collection of a Parisian bibliophile
Abstraction-Création, a group of artists founded in 1931 around Théo Van Doesbourg, published 5 annual reviews between 1932 and 1936 with works by various artists in which primacy was given to colours and geometric forms.
The members of the association, who lived in or near Paris, met regularly in cafés such as the Café Voltaire or the Closerie des Lilas, or in workshops.
In addition to the annual publication, they organised exhibitions of their work on the ground floor of a building at 44 avenue de Wagram to attract other members and publicise their ideas on art.
The association published its last magazine in 1936 and was dissolved the same year.
