15. 15W A Flemish tapestry, probably Brussels, first half 17th century
Woven in wools and silks, depicting an exotic draped figure riding a camel and holding a sceptre and a censer, flanked by joyful cherubs playing, with an ostrich to the right and a cherub dangerously playing with a crocodile, against a mountainous background on the left and a rotunda to the right, the left and right sides with foliate wrapped and flowering columnar borders headed by capitals and with playing putti and other masks, the lower and upper borders reduced, with brown outer slips, 385cm wide, 194cm high (151 1/2in wide, 76in high)
