Private collection / privécollectie, France Tony Cragg generally uses laboratory utensils (test tubes, containers, flasks) as a starting point. As a true experimenter with materials, such as bronze in the case of Early Forms, Tony Cragg subjects materials to every conceivable deformation: twisting, crumpling, contracting or stretching, so that the resulting forms no longer refer to their original use and are constantly renewed. In fact, this is one of the artist's greatest preoccupations, and one in which the notion of innovation plays a key role.
