153. A Meissen group of "Europa and the Bull", circa 1750
Europa seated on the bull clad in a yellow-lined purple cloak decorated with flowers, attended by two similarly clad maidens garlanding the bull with flowers, the base with a flower basket an applied with leaves and flowers, 22cm high, crossed swords mark in underglaze-blue (restored)
Most surviving examples of this group are the slightly later version with moulded scrollwork on the base.
