First Latin edition of the Elements published by Hervagius and containing the small treatises on spherical geometry (Phaenomena), optics (Perspectiva), and geometrical exercises (Data), with commentaries by Campanus and Zamberti. This is the most famous source of Greek geometry, which includes all the fundamentals for the intellectual development of mankind.
Copy complete with Mélanchton's preface to the "adolescentibus...", often censored in other copies. Numerous diagrams and figures on wood. Small cut at the top of the title, marginal rings on the first few leaves, a very good copy. (USTC, 654853) (DSB IV, p.431).
