After the engraving "Habit de Scapin" by Jouillain in Riccoboni's Histoire du Théâtre Italien. The figure is mentioned in Reinicke's work notes for July 1744: '1. Scapin, 7 zoll hoch, zur Italienischer Comödie, in Thon bossirt' [1 Scapin, 7 zoll high, for the Italian Comedy, modelled in clay]; see M. Chilton, Harlequin Unmasked, 2001, p.308, no.101.
