16. 16R An illuminated Qur'an, copied by Muhammad Taqi bin Muhammad Qajar Persia, late 18th/early 19th Century Arabic manuscript on paper, 20 lines to the page written in naskhi script in black within gold cloudbands, inner margins ruled in gold, blue and black, marginal commentaries in shikasteh within illuminated cartouches, sura headings in naskhi script in red within illuminated panels, double-page illuminated frontispiece, contemporary lacquer binding with birds perches amidst roses and foliage 130 x 78 mm. Provenance Private collection, France. The manuscript was inspected by Francois Déroche in 2001, according to a letter dated 18th December of that year.
