165. A Meissen model of a parrot, circa 1740 Modelled by J.J. Kaendler, naturalistically coloured in shades of green and yellow with red eye contours, perched on a tree stump with a leafy branch, 14cm high, crossed swords mark in blue to the base, impressed 57 (some restoration) Provenance The Rosa Alba Collection of Meissen Porcelain Kaendler modelled a variety of parrots around the same time; several are illustrated by Rainer Rückert, Meissener Porzellan 1710-1810, 1966, nos. 1080-1086. Two other examples of this model are in the collection of the Victoria and Albert Museum, London (inv. nos. C.6-1984 and C.4A-1984).
