168. A Meissen Cris de Paris figure of a Savoyarde woman with baby, late 18th century
Modelled by P. Reinicke, holding the baby in a wooden cradle, wearing a white headscarf, yellow tunic, purple gathered apron and lavender dress, the base moulded with gilt-edged scrollwork and applied with leaves, 14cm high, crossed swords mark and asterisk in underglaze-blue and incised A to rear edge of base, two dashes in blue and painter's mark "S" to base (restored)
After the drawing by Christophe Huet of 1753 inscribed "eine Savoyardin mit ihrem Kind...", illustrated by M. Eberle, Cris de Paris, 2001, no. 38.
