17. 17R A small illuminated Qur'an, copied by Muhammad Khwansari Qajar Persia, late 18th/ early 19th Century Arabic manuscript on paper, leaves, 20 lines to the page written in small naskhi script in black ink within gold cloudbands, inner margins ruled in black, gold and blue, marginal commentaries in shikasteh within illuminated cartouches, sura headings written in naskhi in red within illuminated panels, illuminated double-page frontispiece, contemporary lacquer binding with swirling flowers and saz leaves on a green ground 92 x 58 mm. Provenance Private collection, France. The manuscript was inspected by Francois Déroche in 2001, according to a letter dated 18th December of that year.
