An "Amour et Gloire" clock in gilt-bronze and veined green marble, first half of the 19th century The white enamelled dial, signed 'Le Jeune, Paris', is set within the central medallion; a figure of Cupid holds a shield in his left hand bearing the inscription 'Amour et Gloire', whilst on the other side are various elements symbolising love and war. Rectangular base in sea-green marble with laurel wreaths. (slight oxidation, no key, no balance wheel; the movement requires servicing), 28cm wide, 15cm deep, 41.5cm high (11in wide, 5 1/2in deep, 16in high).
