Lot no. 120
(1853). LA ROCHE LACARELLE (Ferdinand de). ARMORIAL OF THE PRINCIPAL NOBLE FAMILIES OF BEAUJOLAIS.
Manuscript in-4°, contemporary green vellum.)
This is most probably the preparatory manuscript for the Armorial du Beaujolais, printed in 1853 in Lyon by the prototypographer Louis Perrin.
This manuscript, written very legibly, is illustrated with 142 watercoloured coats of arms (the La Roche coat of arms is cut out), taken from the nobiliary of Beaujolais, which includes bourgeois families with coats of arms or who owned fiefs. Several handwritten documents accompany this document, including a letter dated Buxy in 1854 and addressed to the mayor. This is followed by a list of the Counts of Lyon since 1760 and the Treasurers of France of the Lyon office. Ex-libris Froissart.
