Kaendler, carrying a cauldron on his back and holding a cover and tool in his hands, wearing a black tricorn hat, brown jacket with gilt buttons, blue-edged white apron, purple breeches and pink stockings, 18.8cm high, crossed swords mark in underglaze-blue to rear edge of base (minor restoration) Provenance: Nelson A. Rockefeller Collection, sold at Sotheby Parke Bernet, New York, 11 April 1980, lot 208 Exhibited: Hohenberg an der Eger, Porzellanikon - Staatliches Museum für Porzellan, 2018-2023 Based on the engraving "Chaudronier Auvergnat" after Edme Bouchardon, from the series "Études Prises dans le Bas Peuple où les Cris de Paris: Première Suite" published in 1737.
