A RARE LARGE PAINTING DEPICTING THE PARINIRVANA OF SAKYAMUNI

Ink and colour on silk, framed and under glass
Finely painted, depicting the deceased Buddha lying on his side on a bed in a grove of sala trees, surrounded by a large group of wailing deities and guardians, men and women of every class and joined by more than thirty animals, with Queen Maya, mother of the Buddha, descending.
