Peugeot launched the 201 at the 1929 Paris Motor Show. It was manufactured in Sochaux until September 1937. It was thanks to this model that the Lion firm was able to weather the enormous crisis of the 1930s, which engulfed many manufacturers. Its mechanics and bodywork evolved over time. The 201 represents an important milestone in the brand's history.
Its great commercial success and image of build quality, sturdiness and reliability are unquestionable. It enabled Peugeot to go from "great manufacturer" to "very great manufacturer". What's more, it was the first car to use the central "0" nomenclature still in use today. Peugeot registered a three-digit trademark with this central zero.
This 1931 model features an attractive 2-door glass body painted in an elegant dark blue. We were able to trace its history back to the early 1950s, when it was registered in Charente Maritime under number G2CC17. It was from this gentleman that the current owner acquired the car in the 80s. Meticulously maintained, the car's bodywork is in excellent condition, reflecting the restoration work carried out in the past. The mechanics work very well and start right up.
