Lot no. 56
French title Chassis n°WCB3 Engine n°W132B - Significant historical documents - Several recent works - Aristocratic refinement - No reserve As the first post-war Rolls Royce, the Silver Wraith was produced from 1946 to 1959. According to the existing pre-war tradition, chassis were sent to major coachbuilders to be adorned and this is how the WCB 3 chassis was delivered to Hooper on the 27th May 1948 to get the No 8098 "Limousine Touring" bodywork, with driver separation, optional electric windows, sunroof and bar for the rear compartment, as evidenced by all correspondences (included in the file) between the manufacturer and the coachbuilder until 1956 for maintenance operations. Delivered on the 3rd September 1948, this sumptuous automobile has been personally ordered by Sir Wolfson, 1st Scottish Baronet, General Manager then President of Great Universal Stores. In 1951, the car was registered in his company's name, then sold to E. Stirling in London in 1956. It was within the collection of Jacques Dessange that its current owner, aesthete and major car enthusiast, discovered the Rolls Royce before acquiring it in 2020. Exigent, he then had it repainted in its original colour. The upholstery in the rear compartment (including the roof) has also been redone and the woodwork was revarnished. A mechanical service was carried out at the same time, with replacement of the fuel tank, repair of the brakes and change of Michelin tyres. Inside, refinement is essential, all electric windows are functional, as well as interior lights. The engine is well adjusted and quiet, suitable for long journeys in the plush comfort of its interior with its aristocratic refinement.
