En effet, la Silver reprend l’ensemble châssis moteur de son aïeule, mais en revoyant légèrement sa mécanique avec le développement d’une nouvelle culasse pour le 6 cylindres en ligne de 4.3L qui équipe la belle Anglaise. Carrossée par un certain nombre de carrossiers dont les plus célèbres Park Yard et James Young, elle fut effectivement la dernière Rolls-Royce que l’on pouvait faire carrosser par le carrossier de son choix et selon ses propres goûts. Voiture de la haute bourgeoisie par excellence, elle fit sa célébrité au travers de nombreuses apparitions au cinéma. La Silver Wraith que nous proposons aujourd’hui à la vente est signée James Young. Il s’agit par ailleurs de celle qui fut exposée sur le stand Rolls-Royce / James Young au salon de l’Auto de Londres (Earl Court) 1949. Achetée neuve par Thomas V. Boardman, puis notamment passée entre les mains de Jack Barclay, elle se trouve en bon état de présentation intérieur extérieur, elle dispose d’une peinture bi-ton aux teintes ocre ainsi que d’un habitacle avec séparation chauffeur. Indeed, the Silver takes the entire chassis engine of his grandmother, but by reviewing slightly its mechanics with the development of a new cylinder head for the 4.3L line 6-cylinder that equips the beautiful Englishwoman. Carried by a number of coachbuilders, including the most famous Park Yard and James Young, it was indeed the last Rolls-Royce that could be bodied by the coachbuilder of his choice and according to his own tastes. It was also exhibited at the Rolls-Royce / James Young booth at the 1949 London Auto Show. Purchased new by Thomas V. Boardman, then passed to Jack Barclay, it is in a good state of exterior interior presentation, it has a two-tone paint in ocher hues and a cockpit with driver separation. With a known history and a mechanics in good condition, this Rolls-Royce wants to be the ideal family car with which to go on vacation with all the elegance and the British phlegm.
