D'après une copie du titre de circulation de l'Etat de l'Illinois figurant au dossier, la voiture est encore aux Etats-Unis en 2001 puisqu'elle y est vendue cette année-là à une société de Long Island. Fin 2007 la voiture est ensuite en Espagne dans la région de la Bilbao. A son arrivée en France en 2010 la voiture a déjà été restaurée. A la fois d'un point de vue mécanique car le moteur a été remplacé par un autre du même type, et d'un point de vue carrosserie mais aussi sellerie, qui font que sa configuration actuelle diffère de l'originale. Cette restauration a globalement bien vieilli et notre Mark V est donc aujourd'hui en bel état, dans une élégante combinaison de couleurs noir et blanc avec capote noire, mariée à un intérieur en cuir beige clair. Des accélérations coupleuses, un amortissement souple et un freinage efficient nous ont donné satisfaction lors de l'essai de ce cabriolet, dont le compteur affiche 25200 miles. Pour autant, ayant peu roulé ces dernières années, nous conseillons une révision d'usage avant de profiter pleinement de cette anglaise racée. Destined for the American market to be sold through the well-known importer Hoffman of New York in 1951, this example is only one of 577 Mark V convertibles finished in left hand drive. According to a copy of the Illinois title on file, the car was still in the United States in 2001 since it was sold to a company on Long Island that year. End of 2007 the car had moved to Bilbao, Spain. When the car arrived in France in 2010, it had already been restored. The engine had been replaced with another one of the same type and the bodywork and upholstery had been refinished that make its current configuration different from the original. This restoration has overall aged well and our Mark V is today in good condition, in an elegant black and white color combination with a black hood and a light beige leather interior. Heavy torque, supple damping, and efficient braking were satisfying when testing this convertible which shows 25,200 miles. However, having driven little in recent years, we recommend a general service before taking full advantage of this British sports car.
