L'exemplaire présenté est sorti d'usine le 6 juillet 1953 avant d'être vendu le 13 juillet suivant par l'agent new-yorkais Max Hoffman. Sa carrosserie était de l'élégante teinte " Battleship Grey " mariée à un intérieur en cuir rouge et capote noire. Ainsi que le confirme la fiche Jaguar Heritage, son premier propriétaire, originaire du Connecticut, avait opté pour une boîte de vitesses manuelle. A la fin des années 90, le beau cabriolet a bénéficié d'une restauration complète dont témoignent un dossier de factures et de photos. Le travail est soigné, la carrosserie étant saine et la peinture, dans le coloris d'origine, est de belle qualité. Les joints de carrosserie sont en bon état d'usage. La capote noire, doublée est en parfait état, tout comme le couvre-capote. La sellerie en cuir rouge, avec moquette assortie et sur-tapis a été intégralement restaurée. Le beau tableau de bord en bois comporte dorénavant un compteur gradué en km/h et totalise 4099 km. Tous les équipements électriques sont fonctionnels, le faisceau ayant été intégralement refait en coton. Le bloc moteur et la culasse correspondent bien aux numéros d'origine, l'ensemble ayant été restauré et étant en parfait état de fonctionnement. Les pneus Firestone Cavallino Sport sont peu usés mais datent de 2002. Accompagné de son manuel d'utilisation d'origine, ce cabriolet a bénéficié d'une restauration de qualité dans le respect de sa configuration d'origine et s'avère prêt à prendre la route. W9120-8 - Interesting left-hand drive model - Original engine and colours - High-quality restoration - No reserve The XK120 drophead coupé is rarer than the roadster, as it was only offered from 1953, for customers who wanted a sporty model but with a less spartan interior. This car left the factory on 6 July 1953 and was sold 7 days later by the New York dealer Max Hoffman. It was elegantly finished in 'Battleship Grey', with a red leather interior and black hood. As its Jaguar Heritage record confirms, its first owner, from Connecticut, opted for a manual gearbox. At the end of the 1990s, this handsome convertible was completely restored, as can be seen from a file of bills and photographs. The work was done with care: the body was sound and the paint, in the car's original colour, is of a high standard. The body seals are in good used condition. The black hood is lined and in perfect condition, as is its cover. The red leather upholstery, with matching carpets and overmats, has been fully restored. The attractive wooden dashboard now has a speedometer marked in km/h which shows a total of 4099km. All the electrical equipment works, the wiring loom having been completely remade in cotton. The engine block and cylinder head match the original numbers; the entire engine was restored and is therefore in perfect working order. The Firestone Cavallino Sport tyres are little worn but date back to 2002.
