Sa carrosserie retenait alors une teinte crème, tandis que la sellerie était bleu pâle avec capote fauve ; l'on imagine sans peine l'allure de la voiture sur les routes françaises du milieu des années 50 ! Le père de l'actuelle propriétaire, fin-connaisseur de Jaguar, en fit l'acquisition en 1987 en Gironde, puis dès 1989, il confiait aux célèbres ateliers Beauzon et Cie la réfection complète du moteur d'origine, à l'occasion de laquelle, la culasse d'origine fut remplacée (la pièce matching numbers sera fournie avec la voiture). La même année, la carrosserie fut entièrement décapée avant d'être confiée à un carrossier pour être restaurée et recevoir une livrée blanche. Le travail est achevé en juillet 1990 et le circuit électrique est alors refait à neuf. La sellerie en cuir fut également restaurée, tout comme la capote doublée de couleur noir. Les trains roulants bénéficièrent du même traitement et quatre roues fils neuves furent installées. Un ancien contrôle technique de 1987 indiquait un kilométrage de 42594 km, tandis que le compteur en affiche aujourd'hui 45605 km. En 2019, près de 10 000€ ont été dépensés afin que la voiture bénéficie d'une révision complète chez Sampaio Automobiles, incluant le remplacement des quatre pneumatiques et du réservoir d'essence. Notre essai a révélé une mécanique très bien réglée, démarrant à la première sollicitation, sans bruit parasite. Par sécurité, des freins à disque ont été montés à l'avant. L'état général actuel de cette XK témoigne du soin avec lequel elle a été restaurée il y'a plus de 30 ans, un état enviable qui invite au voyage. French title Chassis no. 678305 Engine no. F2304-8 - Sold new in France - Extensive restoration file - Matching numbers This elegant XK 120 drophead coupé was sold new by the French Parisian agent Delecroix on April 30, 1954. The body was then finished in cream, with a fawn-coloured hood and pale blue upholstery; it is easy to imagine how striking the car looked on the French roads in the mid-1950s! The current owner's father, a Jaguar connoisseur, bought the car in Gironde in 1987, then sent it to the renowned Beauzon et Cie workshop in 1989 for the original engine to be completely rebuilt. At this time, the original cylinder head was replaced (the matching numbers part will be supplied with the car). The same year, the body was completely stripped bare before being sent to a bodyshop to be restored and painted white. The work was completed in July 1990 and the electrical system was rebuilt as new. The leather upholstery was also restored, as was the fully lined black hood. The running gear was given the same treatment and four new wire wheels were fitted. A safety inspection from 1987 notes a mileage of 42,594km, and the odometer is currently showing 45,605km. In 2019, nearly 10,000€ were spent on a full overhaul of the car by Sampaio Automobiles, including the replacement of all four tyres and the fuel tank. On test, the engine proved very well set up, starting immediately and with no untoward noises. In the interests of safety, front disc brakes have been fitted. The overall condition of this XK today shows the care taken over its restoration more than 30 years ago, and it asks only to be taken for a drive.
