Lot no. 214
Dutch title Chassis n° FVSNY277 Engine n° TY6 572927 - Significant restoration in 1998 - Equipped with the powerful Typhoon engine - A well maintained car The Facel brand was created a few months after the start of World War II, but it was not until the early 1950s that elegant bodies from the coachbuilder were to be seen on Delahaye and Simca bases, followed by a series of 13 sublime Bentleys. Facel's founder, Jean Daninos launched into the creation of a first prototype in 1952, turning to Chrysler for their V8 engines. This prototype was finally unveiled in 1954 at the Paris Motor Show. Year after year, the design was improved, and after the launch of the FV3, the company went on to add the FV4, powered by the Typhoon 6 engine of 392 ci developing 375bhp, a model exclusively for the US market. Originally yellow with a black interior, the Facel we are offering was sold new by Hoffman Motors, in New York, to David Thomas. It is equipped with an automatic gearbox. In the late 1990s, it was imported into Great Britain, where it was restored by Ian Webb, based in Cornwall. It is now night blue color in color, with a beautiful red leather interior. This luxury coupe is one of the last of the great French marque, and also a real sports car with its Hemi Typhoon 6 engine.
