Lot no. 55
French title Chassis n°B86LGC Engine n°BSG106 - Interesting left-hand drive example - Recent maintenance work - Bentley factory release papers The Bentley S1 was introduced in 1955. An all-new model, designed and built in Crewe, the S1 offered high performance for its time and class, while its equipment honoured the marque's tradition of luxury. Its body had a distinguished appearance which would become a symbol for some members of the aristocracy. As its works production card confirms, this Bentley left the factory on 30 April 1959. It was ordered new by a resident of Switzerland through the Rolls-Royce agent in New York. It was finished in the elegant colour of "Shell Grey" with a red leather interior, and was fitted with power steering and air-conditioning. In 2014, it joined a major collection in France; it had been restored and repainted a few years earlier in a classic two-tone combination of grey and black. The air-conditioning compressor was already missing at this point. Inside the Bentley's luxurious interior, the red leather upholstery had also been completely restored, as had the woodwork. In 2014, the braking system was overhauled, while the following year, the radiator and heater valves were renewed. Then in 2016, the gearbox was restored, at a cost of over 7000 €. Its current owner acquired the car in 2020 and has continued to service it regularly. This magnificent saloon comes with a fitted cover and a valuation report from 2019. Its elegance and refinement will surely bring its new owner much happiness.
