La caisse a été entièrement déshabillée, repeinte puis remontée, avec une sellerie complètement refaite. La mécanique - le moteur est du Type 616/2, donc un 1600 Super, la version la plus puissante installée dans cette carrosserie - a bénéficié d'une vérification, d'un rafraîchissement et d'un réglage, avec remplacement de plusieurs accessoires. La suspension a été remise en état, de même que les freins, si bien qu'aujourd'hui la voiture se présente dans un état impeccable. Le modèle vaut bien cela: ce rare Convertible D n'est autre que l'héritier direct du très recherché Speedster. Au lieu d'être produit par Reutter, qui avait du mal à faire face à la demande, il était fabriqué chez Drauz, près de Zuffenhausen. Les différences avec le Speedster se situaient dans un pare-brise un peu plus haut, des glaces descendantes, une capote plus étoffée et des sièges plus confortables. Ainsi aujourd'hui, pour un prix largement moindre, le Convertible D est plus rare que le Speedster (1 331 exemplaires produits) tout en étant plus facile à utiliser. Que demander de plus ? The body was stripped bare, repainted and reassembled with the leather completely redone. The mechanicals - the engine is the Type 616/2, so a 1600 Super, the most powerful version installed in this body style - has received attention too, with refurbishing and adjustments, other than the replacement of several of the accessories. The suspension has been reconditioned too, as well as the brakes, and so now this car is offered in immaculate condition. The model is special: this rare Convertible D is the direct heir of the much sought-after Speedster. Instead of being produced by Reutter, who was struggling to cope with demand, it was made by Drauz, near Zuffenhausen. The differences are that the windscreen is slightly higher than that of the Speedster, the side windows wind down and the hood is more substantial, plus the seats are more comfortable. So today, for a price that is much lower, the Convertible D happens to be rarer than the Speedster (with just 1,331 cars produced) while being easier to use. What more can one ask for?
