Le ramage est à la hauteur du plumage, puisque c'est un 6 cylindres double arbre tout alu couplé à une boite 5 vitesses qui lui permet d'atteindre près de 200 km/h. Son prix de vente élevé en limitera la diffusion et seules 2255 unités seront produites. L'exemplaire présenté est un des rares spider vendus neufs en France où il fut immatriculé pour la première fois le 21 mai 1963. Dès sa sortie d'usine, il retenait son élégante combinaison de couleur actuelle : carrosserie blanche associée à un intérieur en simili marron et capote noire. On retrouve ensuite sa trace en 1978, alors qu'il est immatriculé dans le Maine et Loire, et c'est auprès de ce propriétaire que le défunt mari de l'actuelle propriétaire, un avocat parisien, en fera l'acquisition en 1996. Jamais restauré, l'élégant cabriolet a été anciennement repeint, mais la carrosserie, victime de corrosion, devra bénéficier d'une restauration. La sellerie et la mécanique sont quant à elles d'origine, le tout ayant été entretenu lorsque cela était nécessaire afin de pouvoir circuler autour d'une résidence secondaire en Sarthe. Notre essai a révélé un fonctionnement du moteur satisfaisant, sans bruit anormal, mais il conviendra cependant d'entreprendre la restauration complète de ce très beau spider qui le mérite amplement et symbolise l'âge d'or de la carrosserie italienne. The 6-cylinder, twin-shaft, all-aluminium engine with a 5-speed gearbox allows it to reach speeds of up to 200 km/h. The high price tag certainly limited its distribution, with only 2,255 units being produced. The vehicle on offer is one of the rare spiders sold new in France, where it was first registered on 21 May 1963. From the moment it left the factory, it retained its elegant colour scheme: white bodywork combined with a brown leatherette interior and black soft top. We can later trace it back to 1978, when it was registered in the Maine-et-Loire department, and it was here that the current owner's late husband, a Parisian lawyer, acquired it in 1996. This elegant convertible has previously been repainted, but the bodywork is suffering from corrosion and will need to be restored. The upholstery and mechanics are original and have been maintained when necessary to allow the owner to drive it in the vicinity of their holiday home in the Sarthe department. Our test drive showed satisfactory engine function, with no abnormal noise, but a full restoration is in order for this stunning and deserving Spider that symbolises the golden age of Italian bodywork.
