1963 JAGUAR TYPE E 3,8 LITRES SERIE 1 Carte grise française Châssis n° 888569 - Restauration complète - Série 1 3,8 litres, version emblématique de la Jaguar Type E - Très belle présentation - Livrée neuve en Allemagne Lors de sa présentation au Salon de Genève 1961, le coupé Jaguar Type E étonne tout le monde avec son immense capot soigneusement galbé et allant rejoindre un habitacle profilé. La Type E offre les performances que suggère son allure, grâce au six-cylindres double arbre qui a fait la gloire de la marque sur les routes et les pistes, en version 3,8 litres, ses 265 ch emmènent la voiture à 240 km/h. Ce coupé Jaguar Type E a été livré neuf par le distributeur Peter Lindner de Frankfort au colonel de l'US Air Force J.A Hennesson qui résidait alors en Allemagne. Celui-ci l'a probablement emmené ensuite avec lui aux États-Unis. L'actuel propriétaire en a fait l'acquisition en 2005. Passionné de voitures anglaises, il voulait en faire son coupé Type E 3,8 litres idéal et s'est lancé dans une restauration très approfondie. Le dossier de restauration photographique, très détaillé, montre la caisse complètement mise à nu, la mécanique désossée et remise à neuf, les trains roulants refaits, l'intérieur complètement restauré. Les factures de pièces montrent notamment le démontage et la réfection du moteur et de la boîte de vitesses, la révision du pont arrière, de la dynamo, des instruments, le montage d'un radiateur neuf, d'étriers de freins avant quatre pistons, d'un échappement, la réfection des chromes... Les pièces à elles seules totalisent plus de 30 000 € de factures, notre collectionneur ayant consacré environ 1 500 heures de travail. Outre des améliorations apportées au freinage et au refroidissement, avec un ventilateur Kenlowe débrayable, le propriétaire a posé des sièges de Type E 4,2 litres, plus confortables à son goût. De teinte Warwick Grey (gris Jaguar de série 2) avec intérieur bordeaux, elle est accompagnée de son certificat d'authenticité du Jaguar Heritage. Le coupé Série 1 est considéré comme la plus pure des types E, à cette ligne exceptionnelle, celui que nous présentons ajoute une restauration poussée peu commune. What's more E Type delivered performance to match its looks, thanks to the six-cylinder twin cam engine which was the glory of the marque both on the roads and the tracks, that awesome 3.8-liter with its 265bhp, good enough to take the car up to a V-Max of 240 km/h. This Jaguar E-Type coupe was delivered new by Frankfurt distributor Peter Lindner, to U.S. Air Force Colonel J A Hennesson, who was then residing in Germany. It was probably taken back by him to the United States. The current owner acquired the car in 2005. An enthusiast of English cars, he wanted E Type 3.8 litre to be perfect so he embarked on a very thorough restoration. The photographic record of restoration, very detailed, shows that the chassis was completely exposed, the mechanical refurbished, the undercarriages redone, the interior completely restored. Invoices show all parts acquired and the dismantling and the rebuilding of the engine and the gearbox, the revision of the rear deck, the dynamo, the instruments, mounting of a new heater, front brake calipers of four pistons, exhaust, repair of chrome, etc. The parts invoices alone totals more than € 30,000, and our collector spent over 1,500 hours of his time restoring the car. In addition to improvements in the braking, cooling was also addressed by the installation of a Kenlowe fan. Seats were changed to that from the E Type 4.2 liter version as they were more comfortable. Painted a Warwick Grey (Jaguar grey from the Series 2) with burgundy interior, it is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity from Jaguar Heritage. The Series 1 coupe is considered the purest of the E Types, what with its exceptional line, and this is one with very high level of restoration.
