Lot no. 81
French title Chassis n° 1340577A - Extremely well prepared - The most iconic model - Use of period spare parts - No reserve Built and delivered in 1969, and first registered in France on 5 February 1970, this is one of the last Cooper S MK2 1275 cc examples to be produced. Registered by the current owner on 6 February 1990, the car has been totally restored in a project lasting 26 years. Genuine parts have been used wherever possible in order to create a replica as close as possible to a factory car built to Group 6 specification in line with 1960s regulations. The project, with no budget or time constraints, cost over 50 000 €. The majority of parts and details are specific to the car: lightweight body with fibreglass bonnet, aluminium door panels, perspex windows except the " factory " heated glass windscreen. The original engine block was re-bored to 1380cc, linked to a Weber 45 DCOE, and a newly re-manufactured bespoke " Jack Knight " five-speed gearbox fitted. The completely rebuilt engine produces 110 bhp and requires running in. The fully adjustable chassis has also been built to " factory " specification, as has the interior with specific features such as the ultra-lightweight racing seat. This meticulously prepared car is eligible for many historic race events and comes with a comprehensive file of restoration invoices, and the original driver's manual in French.
