Lot no. 93
Chassis n° 13733 Engine n° 13733 - Delivered new to Rome - Superbly restored in Italy - Rare colour combination - Ferrari Classiche certified - No reserve During eight years of fruitful collaboration, Ferrari and Pininfarina sold over two thousand 250 GTE and 330 GT 2+2 models, demonstrating that there was demand from a clientele not only mad about motor racing, but also concerned about comfort and having enough room for children or extra baggage. A new powerful 2+2 was presented at the Paris Motor Show in 1967, which had independent rear suspension for the first time on a 2+2 Ferrari. A combination of coil springs and Koni shock absorbers ensured excellent road-holding and a high standard comfort was provided by a constant-level rear suspension designed by Ferrari and Koni together. As on the GTB4 and 330 GTC, the transmission shaft (from the five speed gearbox to the clutch) passed to the differential through a " torque tube ". While the chassis had the same wheelbase as the 330 2+2, the coachwork was entirely new, more reminiscent of the Superfast models than the preceding 2+2. This stunning Ferrari 365 GT 2+2 left the factory in 1970 and delivered new to Rome the current livery, Oro Nashrullah with black leather interior. It is clear from close inspection that the car has been superbly restored at great expense in Italy. The original interior has a wonderful patina, having been treated and preserved. The odometer displays 82 886 km which undoubtedly correspond to the original mileage, given the lovely condition of the interior. The car received Ferrari Classiche Maranello certification in 2008, confirming that this is a matching numbers car with the rare colour combination it had when leaving the factory.
