Lot no. 186
Italian title Chassis number AR12422952 - 5th overall at the 1976 Targa Florio - Eligible for historic Targa Florio and Tour Auto - Great value for money Giulio Pucci came from a noble Sicilian family from the town of Termini Imerese, west of Palermo. His uncle Antonio Pucci was a very successful Porsche driver. He had achieved great results on the Targa Florio and finally won the race in 1964 with a Porsche 904 GTS. The Targa being a race where local drivers have an advantage over international stars drivers. Giulio Pucci entered the 1975 race with the Alfa 2000 GTV he had bought new in 1972. He finished 19th overall with race number 109. In 1976 he decided to drive an AMS-Ford instead and gave the Alfa to his friend Pietro Donato. Donato together with co-driver/brother Vicenzo Donato were local boys and knew the track inside out. They achieved the truly amazing result of 5th overall, beating cars like RSR Porsches, Lancia Stratos and Chevrons, a truly amazing feat for this little Alfa, which was actually only a tuned road car. At the last Targa Florio in 1977, Giulio Pucci was driving his Alfa, and pulled off a 9th overall, beating many much faster cars. Today in good condition, the car remains in its original colour, is fitted with a racing interior and comes with FIA and CSAI technical passports. This is a truly historic car, eligible for lots of the major events at a fraction of the cost of more exotic cars. Around the Targa Florio race circuit few cars will be faster than this little Alfa!
