1972 Fiat Shellette - Philippe Starck No reserve Carte grise française Châssis n° 100GB1593183 - La Shellette du célèbre designer Philippe Starck - Voiture rare et originale - Belle présentation - Mécanique simple de Fiat 850 Les années 1950 à 1970 ont vu l'éclosion de voitures de plage, destinées aux clients opulents résidant sur la côte méditerranéenne, ou aux propriétaires de yachts. La majorité de ces automobiles, dont les flancs étaient découpés et dépourvus de portes, dont les sièges utilisaient souvent l'osier comme matériau et dont le toit se limitait à une toile amovible, étaient produits dans leur majorité sur une plateforme Fiat. La plus célèbre est la Fiat Jolly, fabriquée par Ghia à partir des Fiat 500 et 600, mais d'autres carrossiers se sont intéressés à la chose, dont Giovanni Michelotti. Sur base Daf puis Fiat 850, il a réalisée avec Phillip Schell, concepteur de yachts, la Shellette qui se différenciait des autres par une forme spécifique, beaucoup plus aboutie et très moderne. La production est restée toutefois extrêmement limitée et n'aurait pas dépassé 80 exemplaires, ce qui en fait évidemment une voiture très rare. La Shellette que nous présentons appartient au célèbre designer Philippe Starck, gage d'originalité et de qualité du dessin ! En bel état de présentation, elle a bénéficié de travaux récents comportant une révision complète (vidanges moteur et boîte, nettoyage réservoir, nettoyage et réglage allumage/carburation, pose d'un embrayage neuf). Son compteur kilométrique affiche 28 475 km ce qui, selon le mécanicien qui s'en est occupé, pourrait être son kilométrage d'origine, compte tenu de son état. La carrosserie de teinte jaune est impeccable, de même que les jantes Campagnolo en alliage. A l'intérieur, le tableau de bord et les sièges en osier sont très bien préservés, prêts à accueillir leurs occupants pour une balade décontractée au soleil ! Voiture ludique, rare et témoin d'un genre qui a disparu, cette Shellette offre l'originalié de sa forme et l'intérêt de sa provenance. Elle sera appréciée dans les événements historiques et concours d'élégance, sans oublier le plaisir qu'elle va procurer à ceux qu'elle transportera ! Most of these vehicles, with cut-away sides and no doors, often with simple wicker seats and a removable canvas roof, were built on a Fiat platform. The most famous was the Fiat Jolly, built by Ghia from the Fiat 500 and 600. However, other coachbuilders also got involved, including Giovanni Michelotti. Using a Daf and later a Fiat 850 base, he worked with the yacht designer, Philip Schnell, to create the Shellette. This had a particular shape that made it stand out from other beach cars, and it was more refined and modern. Its production was limited to around 80 examples, making it a very rare car. The Shellette on offer belongs to the celebrated designer Philippe Starck, confirming its originality and the high quality of its design ! In superb presentation, the car has benefitted form recent work including a full service (engine and gearbox oil change, fuel tank clean, cleaning and adjustment of ignition/carburettor, new clutch). The odometer records 28,475 km, which according to the mechanic who has looked after it, could be the original mileage, given its condition. The yellow coachwork is impeccable, as are the Campagnolo alloy wheels. Inside, the dashboard and wicker seats are well preserved, and ready to take their occupants on a leisurely, sun-filled jaunt ! A rare, fun car of a type that no longer exists, this Shellette has both an original design and an interesting provenance.
