C’est avec la SIERRA RS COSWORTH que l’association s’exprima pour la première fois dans ce sport. Ainsi, vers le début des années 1990, la Sierra Cosworth fait briller Ford en compétitions. Mais le gabarit n’étant pas adéquat, la mécanique de la Sierra se voit transposer dans le gabarit de l’Escort. C’est ainsi le début de l’Escort RS Cosworth en 1992. Le nouveau modèle reprend la forme de l’Escort traditionnelle mais est tout de même plus longue de 17,5 cm, plus large de 5 cm, possède un empattement supérieur de 26,5mm. Sur le plan de la motorisation, le moteur ne se trouve plus en position transversale mais longitudinale, et développe une puissance de 220 chevaux, lui permettant d’atteindre les 230 km/h. De nombreuses fois victorieuses en championnat du monde des Rallyes, comme au Tour de Corse 1993, ou au Rallye de Monte Carlo en 1994, son palmarès et ses qualités en ont fait un modèle d’exception. Il existait en plus de cela un préparateur français : Bruno Fochesato qui pouvait faire atteindre 400 chevaux au petit bolide. L’exemplaire que nous proposons à la vente est une de ces Escort sorties des ateliers de Fochesato Sport, doté du kit 300 chevaux elle fut optionnée d’un kit freins renforcé de doubles phares avant et de jantes speed line. Cette Cosworth est aujourd’hui à remettre en route.
